After sitting in storage for 12 years, I pulled out and assembled my 1980 H16 and took her out. Everything was fine on the port tack until we went to a starboard tack and demasted. the starboard shroud pulled out of its swage at the mast tang. We got a tow in and I've ordered new shrouds. I hear that Hobie has "double swaged" the ends now. Maybe something was learned from the early years! Is there going to be any problems with length comparing the old shrouds to the new ones?

12 years is about 4 times to long to have shrouds on any beach cat. Be safe not cheap, no friggin with the riggin. A H-16 is one of the least expensive boats to change all the rigging. I would change everything. Both shrouds, both bridal wires, upper and lower forestays, and don't forget to check the shroud pins and the stailess bars they attach to.
