After three different and successful forward cargo trampolines for my Mystere 6.0, I have evolved my design to take advantage of the untapped reserve strength of the rear part of my spinnaker pole.
The revisions for this trampoline include the following new and previously used features:
Super light weight
Allowances for rigging it in the event of spin. pole failure
The abilty to continue sailing in a \'limp home mode\' following many of a number of possible mishaps.
One piece perimiter mainframe structure that is tied, not sewn or riveted.
Keeps cargo high and keeps cargo near center line. This helps in ballance as well as keeping cargo up and away from the leeward hull when hull flying.
Has a trailing rip cord to allow for very quick release of cargo in the event of a capsize to help prevent the cargo weight turning the boat up side down, or turtled.
Easily added to the rig during assemby of the catamaran.
Can be built by most do it yourselfers.
Allows for cargo net to be used as a drying platform for wet clothing while on the beach.
Suspends cargo on a flexible, shock absorbant platform.
Allows for quick removal of cargo weight when landing and moving the catamaran on the beach.
Will keep the cargo with the boat in severe weather and water conditions.
Does not require an added cross bar which, would add turbulence if a leeward deck was submerged.
