  • Thanks for the link Bob, I'm going to make this post sticky for a while so more see it. I recommend everyone download and read through the main rule document, it's well written and there are images of the flags and courses to illustrate rules.

It's winter, what else you got going on?

One small thing is that you will notice this year is that race organizers have been directed to us NoR instead of NOR to abbreviate "Notice of Race". That makes perfect sense but it looks funny to me after years of NOR.

In Australia, the Cliff Notes version is:
    1. Race starts at 11 AM.
    2. First one over the finish line wins.
    Quoting Frank Bethwaite here...

    My favorite kinda race:
some one yells "three rooker island, north tip"
winner: get to pick the island we race to, and gets the best parking spot

I can't sail for a couple of months, so I'm missing out on three local yatch club regattas.
I am using the time to repair and update the cat.
Took advantage of recent line and rigging sales, especially a lighter, thinner, yet stronger main sheet.
Its a little stiff new, but will seriously reduce the sheave friction in my 9:1 main blocks.
The old dacron 7/16" main sheet released too slowly.

Have you been on the water this winter?

  • Why haven't they changed the rules to allow you to bump people when they are in your way? This has been a problem at like every race I've been to.

I sold my beater boat... otherwise ....

There is bumping in local racing occasionally... not too good for friendships (esp when insurance isn't required to race)
