Description:
Pirates on the Pungo is a fundraiser (party regatta) for the Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven NC.There are dinghy, multihull, PHRF spin, nonspin and cruising classes. Last year there were only a few multi-hulls and this year I want to see more! If you aren’t going to the regattas in Galesville or VA beach, come down to pirates on the pungo!

Friday night: Big party sponsored by a local rum distillery
Sat morn: Big breakfast casserole competition and hangover recovery time, race starts at 10:30
Sat afternoon: Finish race(s) by 4, cocktail hour at 5, awards dinner for PHRF classes and big party for everyone, open bar and seafood FEAST.
Sunday: Dinghy and multihull races 9-12pm, dinghy and multihull awards at 2pm with hotdog lunch.
Entry fee $40, shore pass $40. Register by May 1st and you get your name on the event T-shirt.
Although the hospital was recently purchased by Vidant Health Systems it maintains some degree of independence, its in an extremely rural and under-served area. Last year the regatta raised $12,500 for the Pungo District Hospital Foundation a 501c(3) nonprofit organization.
