Rules
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of receiving transmissions on channels 69 and 72.
Eligibility and Entry
Open to all mono-hull boats which hold a West Florida PHRF handicap rating. Multi hull ratings will be appropriate to the
class. Also open to mono-hull boats over 20 feet long with no WFPHRF rating. Such boats will be assigned a rating in the
Just For Fun class.
Selected one-design classes may also be invited.
Entries may be submitted on the attached form, and should include a copy of the WFPHRF, or applicable certificate
(except Fun class).
The regatta is a Boat of the Year event for the SBYA.
Format
Spinnaker, One-Design and Multi-hull classes will sail up to three races on Drop Mark Course using inflatable marks.
Non-spinnaker, Racer-Cruiser, Cruising and Just For Fun classes will sail one race on the Random-leg Course in “Pursuit”
format using fixed marks. Final course descriptions will be announced at the Skipper’s Meeting. Courses will be within
Sarasota Bay. Classes may be split or combined based on entries.
Fees
The entry fee for all boats is $30. Entries include one regatta Polo style shirt and one regatta dinner ticket for the
Saturday dinner. Additional dinner tickets and shirts are available for $15 each. No entries will be accepted after 1700
on Friday, May 11.
Schedule
Friday, May 11 1000-1700 Registration Open - all day
1700 Entries close – no exceptions
1800-1900 Party at BKYC Poolside and Sun Deck; hors d’oeuvres and free keg beer
1900 Skippers Meeting
Saturday, May 12 0800-1000 Complimentary coffee, scones, and doughnuts at BKYC dockside
1200 First warning signal for Windward-leeward course
1200 Starting signal for first (slowest rated) boat on Random-leg course
1800-2100 Cocktails and live entertainment by Steel Pan Dan.
1800 Regatta buffet and awards presentation
Sailing Instructions
Sailing instructions and scratch sheets will be available at the Skippers Meeting and from the Race Committee.
Penalty System
The Scoring Penalty of rule 44.3 will apply for all classes (yellow flag required), for rules of Part 2 and rule 31.
Scoring
A boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. One race is required to constitute a series.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the top boats in each class, depending on entries received by April 30. The Sarasota Bay Cup
Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the best performing boat as determined by the Race Committee.
