Restoring Deck Non-Skid Pattern After Deck Repair

By Dave Atwater

One method of doing this is called a "rip deck". One fininshes the the deck as normal and then tapes off the area to be texturized. Put a coat of glass resin on and lay a piece of dry fiberglass coth on top. Do not put any resin on the top of the glass. Leave enough of an overlap on the cloth so you can rip it up when the ressin sets up somewhat. It takes some practice to know when, if you rip to soon you get bad texture, to late and you have a crappy looking hunk of cloth stuck to your boat.
