Keeping a Mast Chip in PlaceBy Bill JeffersUse a file and clean up the ridges and burrs on your mast base. Finish with some 100 grit wet sand paper. After raising the mast on a new chip, push the mast forward hard to form the chip. Then drop the mast back to your shoulder and have an assistant check the chip and re-center if neccesary. After the chip is cup shaped forget all this, just drop it in and put up the mast. |
