Need help identifying a mast  Bottom

  • So a friend inherited a mast the other day and I'm stumped. Can't figure out what it is. It looks a lot like a Prindle mast because of the head and base, but it is too small to be a prindle 16. It is about the same size as a Hobie 14 mast. The mast tang seems a little high to me, too.

I want to say it is a Prindle 15 mast, but...

  • The shape of the extrusion is a little odd to me, too. It is a tear drop shape, but kind of a fat tear drop.

  • Prindle masts all have a hinge on them, and the top sheaves are the same size.
The P 15 used the same extrusion as the 16 and 18, just shorter.
    That isn't a P 15 mast.
We should be able to match the top casting to something.

  • How about a Venture 15? There is one for sale on craigs and the extrusion looks a lot like it, but I can't tell from the pictures.
